God Pursues
I read this yesterday and it just blew me away. I don’t think I’ve ever read this passage but it spoke to me deeply yesterday. The words are just so powerful.

God wrote these words about Moses. When you read them listen for God’s pursuit. Listen to how He describes the love of His people through the actions He took to rescue them. We are on the brink of celebrating God’s most wonderful pursuit of man. Jesus came in as the Great Liberator and the final blow was dealt to Satan two thousand years ago this week on the Cross at Calvary. Death has lost its sting forever over those that believe. For God so loved us He gave His only Son as a ransom.

Read these words very slowly. Let them soak in. Hear God saying these words to you.

Just ask whether such a great thing as this has ever happened or was ever heard of…..

Did any people ever hear the voice of a god speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and still live?

Or has any god ever attempted to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, and by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by great deeds of terror, all of which the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

To you it was shown, that you might know that the LORD is God; there is no other besides him.

Out of heaven he let you hear his voice, that he might discipline you. And on earth he let you see his great fire, and you heard his words out of the midst of the fire.

And because he loved your fathers and chose their offspring after them and brought you out of Egypt with his own presence, by his great power, driving out before you nations greater and mightier than yourselves, to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as it is this day, know therefore today, and lay it to your heart, that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other.

(Deuteronomy 4:32—39, paragraphing added, bold are my emphasis)

You can hear God telling His children the very lengths and depths He will go to in order that we may see His love and provision for us. No other “god” has fought for his people -- except our God. No other “god” showed up and commanded Pharaoh to “Let MY people go” -- except our God. No other “god” in the desert provided them food and water -- except our God. No other “god” gave a people a land flowing with milk and honey and enabled a victory over much stronger foes – except our God.

When this world beats you down -- when the bills stack up and the pressures of work mount -- when issues arise at home and stress appears in your marriage -- when you begin to think “I’m not sure I can make it” remember these words. Remember that God so loved you He chose you and bought you with His Son’s blood. You are worthy. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. God dreams great dreams for your life. And remember when this world seems to be going to hell (which it is) that God is indeed a mighty warrior. He is going to show back up one day and right all the wrongs, destroy the enemy and rejoice with the Saints. Remember – you are a Saint.

Soar!
